Internal Quality Assessor/Trainer


We are primarily looking for an Internal Quality Assessor which an option to combine teaching/training hours to join our dynamic and friendly team.  Varsity Training provides training from Levels 2-5 across a range of City and Guilds’ programmes.

Job Details

POST:  Internal Quality Assessor (IQA) / Teacher/Trainer – Health and  Social Care

Programmes:                 City & Guilds Diploma Levels 2-5

Subject Specialism:    Health and Social Care

Responsible to:            Directors

Hours:                              Part-time.  14 hours per week, but flexible

 Salary:                              £20,748 – £28,652  per annum pro rata

Date of Issue:                 June 2017

Contract:                          Initial 12 month contract, with a view to extending

Some of the main duties for IQA are to:

  • Ensure that the overall qualifications are delivered to meet the standards of City and Guilds
  • Ensure each candidate has fair access to assessment for their qualification, the centre meets their equality requirements and the assessment practice meets the awarding body and centre requirements for each qualification.

This includes:

  • Sampling of Candidates’ portfolios and evidence, looking at the assessment process, planning, feedback and the assessors’ understanding of the qualification requirements.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the assessors are following the policies and protocols within the organisation and City and Guilds.
  • Ensure any current trends and practice changes are included.
  • Manage EQA visits and requests/requirements.
  • All administrative tasks relating to this.

Some of the main duties for Lecturer/Trainer are to:

  • To deliver high quality teaching and learning by providing students with a planned learning experience, managing the learning process, guiding and supporting learners.
  • Acting as personal tutor to a group of students and provide pastoral care.
  • To provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme.
  • To provide power-points on each session, to be uploaded onto the company VLE.
  • To produce relevant training materials, such as handouts, worksheets, links to websites, resources etc.
  • To produce lesson plans in accordance with current best practice.
  • Completion of Varsity Training forms and documentation, staying in line with the team and company requirements.
  • To engage with the management team to ensure high quality teaching and learning occurs.
  • To help co-ordinate the provision of programming scheduling and learner journey.

A Health or Social Care background is essential, due to the occupational competence required for the post.

Assessing/Teaching/Training experience is also required, as is an IQA qualification.  Feel free to discuss the role with us, as there is flexibility in the role, and hours.
