Lucy Barnes

Consultant

Lucy is an experienced education professional with over two decades of service in the primary sector, specialising in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and teacher mentoring. Her career has been driven by a strong commitment to supporting learners to achieve their potential and creating positive, measurable outcomes. 

Lucy began her leadership journey as an EYFS Phase Leader, gaining Ofsted recognition for excellent teaching. This role allowed her to develop a strong, child-centred teaching philosophy and a passion for high-quality early learning. She has extensive experience leading EYFS provision, including baseline assessment, curriculum development, parental engagement, and the creation of effective indoor and outdoor learning environments. 

As a qualified SENCo (NASENCo), Lucy has led SEND provision across a primary school, coordinating interventions, managing support staff, and working closely with families and external professionals. She has supported pupils with a wide range of needs, including neurodivergence, anxiety, trauma, EBSA, EAL and complex learning needs, both in school and through specialist and remote provision. Her work has included delivering targeted interventions and functional skills to help learners re-engage with education. 

Alongside her leadership roles, Lucy has extensive mentoring experience. She has supported newly qualified and early career teachers through lesson observation, coaching and ongoing professional guidance, and continues to provide support to teachers in the early stages of their careers. 
Lucy is a reflective, well-organised professional who values continuous professional development and lifelong learning. She is now seeking to apply her EYFS, SEND and mentoring expertise within a consultancy and adult learning environment, where she can continue to make a meaningful impact on learners and educators alike.
