Meet the VT Team: Del

This week, we meet Del, who co-founded Varsity Training with Carol back in 2015. Del is one of the Directors and Senior Assessors at VT.

How did you end up at Varsity Training? What jobs have you done beforehand?

I am a qualified Nurse, Social worker and Educator, and I ended up at VT after a lifetime in Care, and then leaving Weston College where I was curriculum manager for the Health and Social Care foundation degrees run through UWE.

Why did you get into Health and Social Care?

Maybe corny, but the genuine reason is that my Brother was in a Road traffic accident when he was 2 and was in and out of hospital for years.  I grew up helping to care for him and seeing how vital good care was.  I have always felt it’s a privilege to help other people and get paid for it!  A cliché but it really is true for me.

Which three people, past or present, would you invite to your dream dinner party and why?

James T Kirk, Bruce Willis and someone a bit more highbrow so I don’t look too shallow!

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend?

Being with family, including the dog, doing my woodworking and a game of golf!

If you had to pick a ‘final’ meal, what would it be? Start, Main and Desert, please!

Starter: Prawn cocktail (Berni Inn – where are you?!)

Main:    Any Indian food

Dessert:  Cheesecake from the ‘Cheesecake Factory’ in Boston

Do you have any pets and if so, what are their names?

I have a black lab called Cody who I LOVE! ♡

Your favourite holiday destination?

 Boston in USA

. . . and finally, would you rather be able to talk to animals or be invisible?

I would rather talk to animals, as being invisible usually involves walking around naked (according to all the books and movies!) and I would be way too cold!!
